background.
Arthur is what was left behind. His father might've wanted a son, but it was only Ygraine's kindness that softened him enough to parenthood. Without that, he returned to the businessman, and Arthur was raised with a very cold and distant father that either didn't know how to reach out to him or didn't care to try. He was handled to maximum efficiency with minimal interaction, a wetnurse carrying him through most of his infancy and Uther's secretary handling his toddler years between meetings. Arthur learned early on that his father was a very important, very busy man and that it was best to just get out of his way as much as possible. He would help lead the company some day, see, and so he had to become the same steel his father wore in his eyes to face each day that came to him. But Arthur was too full of Ygraine's spirit, her last breath given unto his and carried on through his overflowing love of people and the world around him. He's quiet and reserved at home, but the start of schooling let him open up and other kids naturally flocked to his welcoming energy. Arthur is a social creature, and he didn't understand why Uther hated this about him. His father expected him to be the best in everything, yet demanded he stay away from the eyes of his peers and teachers. Do well but don't get close. Excel and exceed; don't give them a chance to catch up to you. It was confusing enough as it were and only grew moreso when suddenly a new addition was brought to the family. A woman Arthur had never seen before ( and never saw again ) came to the house with a bundle of blankets in her arms that she handed off to Uther, and he handed it off to Arthur in turn to lock himself in his study and have a row with himself. Or someone on the phone, Arthur's not sure. He was too busy unravelling his unexpected gift to find his sister underneath it all, a light patch of black hair starting to grow on her head and tiny little green eyes staring up at him expectantly. He was eight and overwhelmed, even moreso when Uther stormed out of the house that night claiming an emergency meeting. Morgana was Arthur's to raise after that, more or less, though his uncles Agravaine and Tristan started coming 'round the house more often around that time as well. It seemed like his father was always in a rush for something, and no amount of following him around the house would get him to pay attention to either of them. |

miscellaneous.
skills: He's good for some fisticuffs! Arthur learned to defend himself and fight back early on out of necessity, so he's ready to jump into fights and take couple blows before ending it himself. He's also fairly learned, having gone through the proper channels of education before dropping his entire life to come to Bullworth. other: Arthur doesn't live on campus, he has a flat in the city and drives to school in an intentionally nondescript car, but some days find him working on his own things late into the evening and he's always early to arrive. It might seem like he's always around, for one reason or another - he'll find one wherever he can. |
